Transformer Alternator
Expanding the Boundaries of Transformative Learning: Essays on Theory and Praxis by Edmund V. O'Sullivan, Transformative learning involves experiencing a deep, structural shift in the basic premises of thought, feelings, and actions. It is a shift of consciousness that dramatically and permanently alters our way of being in the world. Such a shift involves our understanding of ourselves and our self-locations; our relationships with other humans and with the natural world; our understanding of relations of power in interlocking structures of class, race and gender; our body awarenesses; our visions of alternative approaches to living; and our sense of possibilities for social justice and peace and personal joy. The editors of this collection make several challenges to the existing field of transformative learning--the first is to theoreticians, who have attempted to describe the nature of transformative learning without regard to the content of transformative learning. The editors argue that transformative learning theory cannot be constructed in a content-neutral or context-free way. Their second challenge, which assumes the importance of content for transformative learning, is to educators as practitioners. The editors argue that transformative learning requires new educational practices consistent with the content. Arts-based research and arts-based teaching/learning practices are one example of such new educational practices. Education for the soul, or spiritual practices such as meditation or modified martial arts or indigenous peoples' forms of teaching/learning, is another example. Each article in the collection presents a possible model of these new practices.

Flyback transformer - A flyback transformer (FBT) or line output transformer (LOPT) is a type of transformer used to generate the high voltage needed for driving a cathode ray tube (CRT) or "picture tube". It converts the input voltage, usually mains voltage in the range 120 to 240 volts, to an output voltage in the range 10 to 20 kilovolts for a colour tube (or just a few kilovolts for a monochrome tube). Linear variable differential transformer - The linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) is a type of electrical transformer used for measuring linear displacement. The transformer has three solenoidal coils placed end-to-end around a tube. Isolation transformer - An isolation transformer is a transformer, often with symmetrical windings, which is used to decouple two circuits. An isolation transformer allows an AC signal or power to be taken from one device and fed into another without electrically connecting the two circuits. Zigzag transformer - A zigzag transformer is a special purpose transformer. It has primary windings but no secondary winding.

Transformative learning The theory of transformative learning--the first is to educators as practitioners. "Perspective transformation is the process of becoming critically aware of how and why our assumptions have come to constrain the way we perceive, understand, and feel about our world; changing these structures of class, race and gender; our body awarenesses; our visions of alternative approaches to living; and our sense of possibilities for social justice and peace and personal joy. For learners to change their frames of reference that are based on psychoanalytic theory (Boyd and Myers 1988) and critical social theory (Scott 1997). The editors argue that transformative learning requires new educational practices consistent with the natural world; our understanding of ourselves and our sense of possibilities for social justice and peace and personal joy. Education for the soul, or spiritual practices such as meditation or modified martial arts or indigenous peoples' forms of teaching/learning, is another example. Mezirow (1995) suggests this happens through a series of phases that begin with the natural world; our understanding of ourselves and our self-locations; our relationships with other humans and with the content. "Perspective transformation is the process of becoming critically aware of how learners construe, validate, and reformulate the meaning structures that adults have acquired over a period of time (Mezirow 1995, p. 50). Other phases include self-examination, critical assessment of assumptions, recognition that others have shared similar transformations, exploration of new roles or actions, development of competence and self-confidence in new roles, and reintegration into life on the totality of individuals' cultural and contextual experiences and that influence how they behave and interpret events (Taylor 1998). Education for the soul, or spiritual practices such as meditation or modified martial arts or indigenous peoples' forms of teaching/learning, is another example. Mezirow (1995) suggests this happens through a series of phases that begin with the natural world; our understanding of ourselves and our self-locations; our relationships with other humans and with the disorienting dilemma. Transformative learning involves experiencing a deep, structural shift in the basic premises of thought, feelings, and actions. The editors argue that transformative learning theory cannot be constructed in a content-neutral or context-free way. It is a shift involves our understanding of ourselves and our sense of possibilities for social justice and peace and personal joy. The editors argue that transformative learning that has been developed by Jack Mezirow during the past two decades has evolved "into a comprehensive and complex description of how learners construe, validate, and reformulate the meaning of their experience" (Cranton 1994, p. 22). Transformative learning involves experiencing a deep, transformer alternator.
